This initiative proposes an approach to expand services along the Via degli Dei, a pilgrimage route connecting Bologna to Florence through the scenic landscapes of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. Situated in the Municipality of Monzuno, this section of the trekking route serves as either the first or second waypoint, depending on how travelers organize their stages and the number of days planned for the journey.
A two-story building will be constructed, featuring an apartment on the upper floor and a refreshment area for hikers on the ground floor. Leveraging the natural morphology of the lot, four terraced tent areas have been created for walkers. At the edge of the camping area, a service box is strategically positioned to provide essential amenities.

Adjacent to the main building, an outdoor refreshment area has been designed to further support the needs of pilgrims and visitors. Equipped with sturdy wooden benches and tables, this space offers a welcoming environment where hikers can rest, share their experiences, or enjoy a meal while immersed in the tranquility of the Apennine landscape. A nearby fountain provides fresh, potable water, allowing walkers to refresh themselves before continuing their journey.

At the base of the slope leading to the tent pitches, a container has been installed to house sanitary facilities. This service box includes toilets, washbasins, and showers, ensuring that overnight campers have access to essential amenities in a functional and convenient manner. Discreetly integrated into the natural surroundings, the facility is thoughtfully positioned to serve the camping area while blending into the landscape.

The main building’s design incorporates large glass windows that maximize natural light and wooden facades that harmonize with the naturalistic setting of the Apennines. Over time, the natural wood will age and develop a patina, reflecting the passage of time and echoing the characteristics of the surrounding forested environment.

The refreshment area has been conceived as a multifunctional space, capable of accommodating various activities, from community gatherings and cultural events to quick lunch breaks for residents and visitors. Its flexible design allows it to serve diverse purposes throughout the year, ensuring it remains a hub of activity even during the colder months when pilgrim traffic along the Via degli Dei decreases.
